Throw out old habits
If it’s no longer serving you, then kick it to the kerb. Over winter it is easy to find comfort in old habits but these can often be destructive. Take a moment to consider which habits are no longer serving you and let them go.

2. Air things out
As important as it is to open up your house to the fresh air, it’s also important for your mental health. Try to get outside at least once a day and you will quickly notice a difference in your mood.

3. Clean out your closet
Thought patterns can be like outfits that we wear over and over again. They can feel familiar and comforting. But do they still fit? We are constantly changing and evolving so the thoughts or clothes that fit us last year, might not fit so well this spring.

4. Actually clean your environment
I know I said spring cleaning your mind but having a clean space can actually improve your mental health. Start small with the space you spend the most time in. Maybe this is your bedroom, your office, or even your car. When our surroundings are cluttered then our minds can begin to feel cluttered as well. By removing this negative external stimulus, we are able to create more space in both the physical and mental sense.

5. Update your (out)look
Try something new! Maybe you’ve been thinking about meditation, journaling, or starting therapy. It is never too late to start something new and spring is the season of new beginnings so the time is now!

6. Disinfect toxic relationships
Use this season as a chance to break free of relationships that are no longer serving you. Can they be disinfected or is it time to let them go? If there was something toxic in your house you would do something to change it, so its time to apply this principle to your interpersonal relationships.
